Strengthening food security and connection in Whittington

Whittington Neighbourhood House received an annual grant of $27,250 from the Give Where You Live Foundation to drive food delivery in the Whittington area, an investment that will make a difference for local families and individuals across the 3219 community.

This funding reflects a clear focus on Whittington as a priority area for the Give Where You Live Foundation, where access to services can be limited, but community strength, and connection is evident.
With this support, Whittington Neighbourhood House is expanding its capacity to respond to immediate needs while building stronger, more sustainable pathways for the future of its community members.
Funding will support a Foodbank Coordinator role, which will drive efficient food distribution and program delivery within the community. Through this funding, essential food supplies will be purchased via Foodbank Victoria, ensuring that more local families experiencing hardship can access fresh, nutritious food when they need it most.

This, not only addresses immediate food insecurity but also strengthens local systems of support, helping to create a more resilient and connected community. By improving access to essential items, the program reduces some of the everyday pressures faced by families and provides a foundation for stability and wellbeing.

Chantelle Hodgson, CEO of Whittington Neighbourhood House expressed deep appreciation for the funding and the impact it will have in the Whittington community.

“Your support is significant and it is an investment in people, connection, opportunity and hope. The significance of this funding cannot be overstated. It will enable us to strengthen our Foodbank program, enhance wrap-around supports for individuals and families experiencing hardship, and create meaningful pathways that improve wellbeing, food security and community participation.

At a time when many members of our community are facing increasing challenges, your ongoing commitment allows us to respond with practical support while also building long-term solutions that foster resilience and empowerment. This investment will have a lasting impact on the lives of local people and will help us continue to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, supported and connected.

We are incredibly grateful for your confidence in our work and your shared vision for a stronger, more inclusive community. We look forward to providing updates, outcomes and stories of significant change that demonstrate the difference this funding will make in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you for standing alongside us and helping to create positive change in Whittington and the wider 3219 community.”
