Community Choice

The Give Where You Live Foundation’s Community Choice initiative is an emergency relief voucher program providing support for people experiencing financial crisis in the Geelong region. The initiative works in partnership with Community Services organisations and merchants across our region.  

The initiative provides emergency relief in the form of food, pharmacy, and material aid (household goods and recycled furniture) vouchers, which are provided to local Community Service Organisations who distribute them to members of the community seeking assistance. The initiative provides choice and dignity for people seeking emergency relief and an opportunity for businesses in our region to be part of the solution, actively contributing to the community through supporting people experiencing life crisis.  

As a result, our food relief network will become more accessible and give people accessing food relief real choice about what type of food they’d like to access. Choices like whether they want to use their voucher for groceries, or to furnish their home, or take their children out for a birthday treat.

Community Choice forms part of the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Feed Geelong initiative which works to address food insecurity throughout the G21 region and is a reimagining of the Foundation’s existing voucher program, which was established in response to the collapse of Pyramid Building Society in 1990.
