Through our annual grants being distributed this month, we’ve supported local organisations delivering essential services to people in crisis right now.
This includes the newly launched Street Side Medics service in Geelong, where funding will enable a weekly mobile GP clinic to our community, providing free healthcare to people experiencing homelessness.
This vital support will provide essential medical supplies, break down barriers to care, and help prevent avoidable health crises. Most importantly, it ensures people experiencing homelessness in Geelong are met with consistent, compassionate, and dignified healthcare when they need it most.
Members of the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Impact team were pleased to attend the launch of Street Side Medics in Geelong, who will operate from The Outpost on a Sunday night.
Aiming to provide an exceptional standard of healthcare to the homeless community, Street Side Medics are able to carry many of the burdens that homeless people experience by exploring and addressing the barriers keeping them away from healthcare services. The service operates from a mobile medical van, fitted with the necessary equipment to provide primary healthcare services, to the standard of a normal general practice with an accredited General Practitioner. The services are of no personal charge to any patients regardless of healthcare status.
