PITCH UP GEELONG is an annual live crowdfunding event brought to you by the Give Where You Live Foundation (think Shark Tank meets live Crowd Funding).

Based on the model developed by The Funding Network, the event supports three local organisations that have big ideas by connecting them with people who want to make a change! At the event the three participating organisations get an opportunity to tell their story, sharing their ideas that will make a difference for our community.

Pitch Up Geelong 2021

Pitch Up Geelong took place on Thursday, 18 March 2021 the Give Where You Live Foundation hosted an opportunity to financially support organisations who are aligned with our Theory of Change and grant making strategy.

This year’s Pitch Up Geelong organisations were:

  • EdConnect Australia
    • Pitched to raise funds to train, support and place volunteers into local schools to help improve the lives of vulnerable students. The program will introduce specialist mentors to walk alongside students as they prepare to transition from Grade 6 to Year 7.
  • Geelong Youth Engagement
    • Pitched to raise funds to support re-engaging at-risk young people with education, their families, and the wider community. Geelong Youth Engagement will do this through their Kokoda Youth Program which helps young people work through their life challenges.
  • Strong Brother Strong Sister
    •  Pitched to raise funds to provide a culturally appropriate safe place for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander young people to access and thrive. Strong Brother Strong Sister will achieve this through structure and programs aimed to strengthen existing youth groups for those aged 12-25 years.

Thanks to our donors on the night as well as matched funding provided by Erdi Foundation, Gforce Employment Solutions and Anthony Costa Foundation – we raised $127,000 for the pitching organisations.
