Investing in Neighbourhood Economics
The Give Where You Live Foundation is proud to support Neighbourhood Economics through a Strategic Partnership Grant, providing core operational funding of $100,000 per year for three years to help advance a bold vision for more inclusive local economies in Geelong.
Focused on communities experiencing entrenched disadvantage, Neighbourhood Economics is reimagining how prosperity is created and shared. Their work centres on the principles of human connection, distributed power, democratic ownership, and shared value, recognising that thriving economies are about people and place, not just money.
Through place-based research and community engagement in Norlane and Corio, Neighbourhood Economics is building a deeper understanding of how local economies shape everyday life. By combining economic mapping, collaboration with regional institutions, and the lived experiences of residents, their work highlights a consistent challenge: while the broader economy grows, opportunities for local participation and wealth creation often remain out of reach.
This partnership supports a shared vision for an economy that is regenerative, resilient, and inclusive, creating opportunities for everyone to participate and benefit.
We are excited to back this important work and invest in stronger, fairer neighbourhood economies across our region. Together, we’re investing in a future where communities can create and capture lasting value, and where people, place, and planet are at the heart of economic development.
