The Give Where You Live Foundation is proud that our Strategic Grant of $75,000 per year for three years will continue to support The Good Neighbourhood Project’s ongoing work in Norlane.
This core operational funding will help the organisation deliver its community and economic development strategy, ensuring local residents remain at the centre of creating positive, lasting change in their neighbourhood.
The Power of Local Communities
For years, The Good Neighbourhood Project has been working alongside residents in Norlane, helping build connections and creating opportunities for people to actively shape the future of their community.
Their approach recognises that lasting change doesn’t come from outside solutions alone. It comes from local people identifying priorities, leading initiatives and working together to improve the places where they live. When people are supported to come together, share ideas and work towards common goals, neighbourhoods can thrive, and this aligns with the Foundation’s strategic priorities for a fairer Geelong.
A Long-Term Commitment to Norlane
The Good Neighbourhood Project focuses its efforts in neighbourhoods that are often overlooked, choosing to immerse themselves in communities and build genuine relationships over time.
Through workshops, community events and collaborative projects, they facilitate initiatives that harness the collective power of local residents. By creating spaces for connection, skill-sharing and collaboration, they empower people to tackle challenges, celebrate successes and develop practical solutions that reflect local needs and aspirations.
Their work strengthens social connection while also supporting economic participation and community leadership, helping create more resilient and connected neighbourhoods.
Creating Change from the Ground Up
The Good Neighbourhood Project acknowledge that change in Norlane doesn’t happen through quick fixes. It happens when neighbours come together to support one another, share their experiences and contribute their skills and ideas. The Good Neighbourhood Project has built its work around this understanding, investing in relationships and fostering a strong sense of belonging within the community. Whether it’s bringing residents together through events, supporting local leadership opportunities, or facilitating projects that respond directly to community priorities, The Good Neighbourhood Project helps create conditions for meaningful, long-term change in the Norlane community.
The Give Where You Live Foundation is proud to be investing in a proven community-led approach that empowers local residents to drive meaningful change. We are proud to support their work as they continue creating opportunities for people to connect, learn, contribute and lead. Together, we can help unlock the potential that already exists within Norlane and build a stronger, more connected future for everyone who calls the Norlane community home.
