Hit the new year running and support your community

The community is being encouraged to join the hundreds of people who will hit the new year running as they take part in the Dawnbuster Fun Run to support the Give Where You Live Foundation.

Geelong’s iconic waterfront will come alive at sunrise this New Year’s Eve as hundreds of participants take part in the 5km community event kicking off at 7:00am on Wednesday, 31 December 2025.

Organised in partnership with the Geelong Cross Country Club, the Dawnbuster Fun Run supports the Give Where You Live Foundation to create a fairer, more equitable community. All funds raised in this charity event will support those in need in our community with a focus on food security, homelessness assistance and inclusive employment.

Give Where You Live Foundation CEO, Zac Lewis said the 5km course along the Geelong waterfront is a great way to start the day and is ideal for participants of all ages.

“For 34 years the Geelong Cross Country Club has partnered with the Foundation to host the Dawnbuster Fun Run. It is great to see the community coming together to support the Foundation, with runners of all ages and fitness levels joining in.”

“We can’t think of a better way to kickstart your 2026 than raising funds for the Give Where You Live Foundation and supporting people in our community who may be experiencing homelessness, struggling to put food on the table, or facing barriers to employment.”

Geelong Cross Country Club’s Dr John Morton said, “We’re very proud that this is Dawnbuster’s 34th year. Every year since 1992, runners have lined up at 7am on New Year’s Eve and run or jogged the scenic course. Starting the last day of 2025 with a run along Geelong’s beautiful waterfront is the perfect way to set the tone for the year ahead and support your community.”

Entries are open now at www.givewhereyoulive.com.au/events, with participants encouraged to register early to secure their spot.  Families, friends, and individuals of all fitness levels are welcome – whether you’re chasing a personal best or strolling into 2026 with a smile.

The event will be held at the Geelong Waterfront at 7am on 31 December 2026.
