In a remarkable show of community spirit, the Barwon Heads Cycling Club’s 4th annual Bridge to Bridge charity bike ride has pedaled its way to raising almost $30,000 for the Give Where You Live Foundation.
In line with its aspiration of being a positive catalyst for change in the community, 9 riders from the Barwon Heads Cycling Club took on the grueling 900km ride from Albury to Barwon Heads via the Victorian High Country, all in support of helping the Foundation create a fairer Geelong community.
Even riding through freezing conditions at Mt Hotham, Steve D’Andrea from Barwon Heads Cycling Club said the riders were delighted to be able to support the important work of the Give Where You Live Foundation.
“It was a pleasure to share the experience with the group and raise funds for Give Where You Live. Although some days were a challenge, especially when it snowed, the camaraderie and encouragement contributed to a fantastic event. It’s the least we could do for our community. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our sponsors, the local community, friends and family. We’re looking forward to the next one!”
Give Where You Live Foundation CEO, Zac Lewis said the Foundation was incredibly grateful to the Barwon Heads Cycling Club riders for their amazing effort in helping to support their local community.
“We’re working hard to create a fairer Geelong and we can only do that with the support of our community. The amazing efforts of the Barwon Heads Cycling Club’s Bridge to Bridge riders will directly help those most in need in our region,” Zac said.
“We’re so grateful to the Barwon Heads Cycling Club for working with us to create a fairer community. All funds raised will assist in funding our own initiatives and local programs with a focus on food security, homelessness assistance and inclusive employment.”
Spanning the four Bridge to Bridge charity rides, the Barwon Heads Cycling Club has now raised almost $180,000 for the Geelong community.
