The Give Where You Live Foundation is asking the Geelong community to dig deep and get behind its 2024 Give Geelong Appeal.
The Appeal, running from 15 – 22 March 2024, will assist the Give Where You Live Foundation in creating a fairer community by assisting those in our community who are experiencing homelessness, those struggling to put food on the table and help those facing long term unemployment.
Give Where You Live Foundation CEO, Bill Mithen said the Foundation was looking forward to seeing the community get behind the Give Geelong Appeal to help create a fairer community, particularly in the face of the rising cost of living.
“We’re working hard to create a fairer, more equitable Geelong, where all people and places thrive and we can only do that with the support of our community. The Give Geelong Appeal is a chance for the people of Geelong to come together and help raise funds for our community. Your donation to the Give Geelong Appeal will have an immediate and local impact. It will support
people in our community facing long-term unemployment, help people facing homelessness and support families struggling to put food on the table.”
“The need in our community continues to increase, and so too, the levels of inequity. As an example, while the wider Geelong region continues to report low levels of unemployment, there are some suburbs who continue to experience unemployment rates as high as 20%. Supporting the Give Geelong Appeal will help us to create the change needed to support those that need it most,” Bill Mithen said.
There are three ways the community can get involved and support the Give Geelong Appeal:
• Footy Gear Friday on Friday 15 March.
We’re encouraging Geelong to kick goals for our community by wearing your footy gear and donating to the Give Where You Live Foundation.
Workplaces, sports clubs, friendship groups and schools are all encouraged to participate.
• Give Geelong Breakfast on Thursday 21 March.
