The 32nd e&s Golf Classic raising funds for the Give Where You Live Foundation was a resounding success, raising over $100,000 to help create a fairer community.
A sold out field of 120 golfers from over 25 local businesses teed off for the community at Curlewis Golf Club on Friday 9 February.
The e&s Golf Classic charity event, now in its 32nd year, is always a highlight on the Foundation’s annual events calendar and is an integral part of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.
Give Where You Live CEO, Bill Mithen said the funds raised will assist the Foundation to continue to help create a fairer, more equitable community through a focus on food security, homelessness and inclusive employment across the Geelong region.
“The generosity of the Geelong community knows no limits and it was great to see the business sector hitting the Curlewis greens and golfing for good. Thanks to the support of our long-term presenting partner e&s, venue sponsor Curlewis Golf Club, luncheon sponsor Adroit and all of the businesses who attended, we’re proud to announce this year’s event raised over $100,000.”
“This now takes the total raised from the event over the past 32 years to more than $2.2 million to help the Foundation create a fairer community for Geelong.”
“We’re working hard to create a fairer Geelong and we can only do that with the support of our community. The amazing efforts of all of our sponsors, prize donors and participants will help those most in need in our community. Due to the increased cost of living we’re seeing more and more individuals and families facing unemployment, homelessness, and struggling to put food on the table.”
At this year’s event golfers enjoyed a range of fun activities out on the course including the opportunity to win a Jayco caravan at the hole in one, entertainment by K rock and caricature portraits by local artist David Seery.
The luncheon was hosted by local actor Bert LaBonte and also included live entertainment by Cam Henderson and a live fundraising auction by Whitford Real Estate’s Peter Forte.
The winning team, led by e&s Retail Operations Manager, Paul Ryan, was a combined team from e&s and Maxwell Collins Real Estate.
In attendance were business from across the region including AWA Alliance Bank, Built, Faggs Mitre 10, GT recycling, Kerrs Hire, Norlane Hotel, Duffs Jewellers and Whitford Property.
e&s Managing Director, Rob Sinclair, said “e&s can not be prouder to be associated with Give Where You Live and the phenomenal work they do to change the lives of people in this community that is so important and valued by the entire e&s family. It was great to see so many businesses involved to raise this phenomenal amount to further help GWYL help those who need it the most.”
