Thank You! You’ve helped us raise an incredible $40,000

The Give Where You Live Foundation is extremely grateful for the support of the Geelong community for generously getting behind its 2023 Give Geelong Appeal to help create a fairer G21 region.

The weeklong appeal which kicked off with local organisations wearing their footy gear on Friday 17 March and wrapped up with award winning author and founder of ‘I Quit Sugar’, Sarah Wilson as keynote speaker at the Give Geelong breakfast.

Thanks to generous matched giving partners, GMHBA and CLOS, every dollar donated during the Give Geelong Appeal was doubled, raising over $40,000, while the Give Geelong Breakfast also reached $40,000, bringing the total raised over the week to an incredible $80,000 for the Geelong community.

Over 275 people came together at the Give Geelong Breakfast presented by BBC digital, to share breakfast, raise important funds and hear Sarah Wilson share her inspiring story and advice on living life with purpose.

All funds raised will be essential in supporting the Give Where You Live Foundation’s work to create a fairer G21 region by assisting local education and employment programs, as well as supporting people in our community who are experiencing life-inhibiting crisis to help meet their basic needs.Give Where You Live Foundation Acting CEO, Meg Price said the Foundation was inspired by the generosity of the community in getting behind the appeal and helping to support those most in need.

“We recognise that any donation is an incredible gift to our community, particularly when so many in our region are facing financial pressures of their own with the rising cost of living. We knew our goal of reaching $40,000 was ambitious, and we are overwhelmed with the support we received from the Geelong community who have really showed they were up for the challenge.”

“This generosity will help us meet some of the increased requests for support from our community in the areas of education gaps, inclusive employment and supporting people through life crises such as homelessness and food security.”

“Our work is not possible without the generosity of the community. Because of this incredible support, we will be able to make real change to many people’s lives.”

“We would also like to thank our Appeal partners, GMHBA, CLOS, K Rock 95.5, Bay 93.9 and our Breakfast sponsor BBC Digital for their ongoing support to helping the Foundation create a fairer community.”
