The Paddock Community Farm, the seven-acre community farm in Leopold owned by the Give Where You Live Foundation, continues to thrive as a place where people of all abilities come together to learn new skills, build connections and contribute to a fairer community.
As part of the Foundation’s commitment to expanding community-led food production, the Give Where You Live Foundation is pleased to have welcomed long-term grant partner Feed Me Bellarine, Geelong and Surf Coast as the farm’s key farming partner.
Drawing on its expertise in food rescue and community nourishment, Feed Me is now growing fresh produce at The Paddock, helping create a more reliable supply of nutritious food for people experiencing hardship.
With rising living costs driving increased food insecurity across the region, demand for food relief continues to grow.
Give Where You Live Foundation CEO Zac Lewis said the partnership is creating practical, long-term solutions to support local food security.
“By bringing together Feed Me’s expertise in food relief and The Paddock’s capacity to grow fresh produce, we’re helping build a more sustainable local food system while strengthening community connections,” Zac said.
Feed Me Founder and CEO, Lana Purcell said the partnership has strengthened the organisation’s ability to support the community.
“Food rescue supply can be unpredictable, so being able to grow our own produce at The Paddock has provided greater sustainability and security,” Lana said.
The partnership has already increased the amount of fresh vegetables available through Feed Me’s programs and enabled the activation of an unused chicken pen, providing a consistent supply of eggs, a valuable and often difficult-to-source source of nutrition.
While still in its early stages, the project is already strengthening local food supply, engaging volunteers and building meaningful community connections.
“It’s not just about growing food, it’s about growing community,” Lana said.
