After struggling with mental health challenges, and fleeing domestic violence, Renee* relied on government payments as her main source of income. Overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, Renee received support from Cultura.
Renee was experiencing significant financial hardship, constantly stressed and worried about how she could provide food for her children and pay the bills.
At Cultura she received a Give Where You Live Foundation Community Choice voucher, which meant she could buy fresh fruit, bread and a few toiletries, small essentials she hadn’t had been able to access in weeks. More than food, it offered her dignity and the strength to take the next step towards rebuilding her life.
The Community Choice program distributes over 7000 vouchers each year, supporting over 13,000 community members to access food from a network of cafes, restaurants and food programs at no cost. This program has made a meaningful difference in Renee’s life.
