Jasmine*, a single mother who cares for her aging mother and her teenage son, accesses a food relief program on a regular basis. Recently diagnosed with a medical condition, she is currently unable to work. The cost of raising a child and medical expenses for both her and her mother mean that often, she is unable to make ends meet.
And Jasmine deserves to not have to make the choice between putting food on the table and paying the rent.
Thanks to your donations, the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Community Choice vouchers have made a significant difference to Jasmine’s ability to care for her family.
Community Choice pharmacy vouchers have been vital for Jasmine to purchase prescribed medications and Community Choice food vouchers make it possible to provide healthy and appropriate food for all three of them. Jasmine notes how important it is for her son to feel as though he has the same food at school as his classmates so that he doesn’t stand out.
The Give Where You Live Foundation’s Community Choice program gives people in our community experiencing crisis access to basic necessities such as food, prescriptions and essential household items. Many organisations have come on board with the Community Choice voucher program and are committed to giving back to the community and share in our belief that every member of our community deserves the opportunity to not only survive, but thrive.
