Master chef to help make sure nobody in our community goes hungry

The Give Where You Live Foundation is delighted to announce the Feed Geelong Appeal Ambassador for 2023 is Simon Toohey from MasterChef.

Simon, a cook and tv presenter who appeared in series 11 & 12 of MasterChef lives locally and jumped at the chance to be involved with the Feed Geelong Appeal.

“My partner and I came to Geelong post covid and straight away fell in love with the place. I was lucky enough to meet the team behind the Feed Geelong Appeal and loved everything they were about. I put my hand up to play a part in the 2022 appeal.”

With the rising cost of living pressures driving an increase in demand for local food relief services, Give Where You Live Foundation research estimates over 8700 people are needing food relief assistance each week.

“Not having enough to eat is a sad reality for so many and if we could help in any way to make sure every mouth and stomach was fed, we would do so. Especially as the cost-of-living hits hard. That is why I am more than happy to partner with the Give Where You Live Foundation again this year to help raise money for their 2023 Feed Geelong Appeal.”

“As a lover of food, it made sense to lend a hand. Not only are people going hungry, but there is a severe lack of nutrition and knowledge behind food. With this, I want to make sure not only are people not going hungry, but they are eating healthy, nutritious food.

Simon will participate in a cooking demonstration at the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Open Day at The Paddock on Sunday 22 October.

“You too can help fight hunger in our community by supporting the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Feed Geelong Appeal at feedgeelong.com.au.”
