Three charity organisations are joining the Give Where You Live Foundation for Pitch Up Geelong in 2024.
The Outpost, Feed Me and Thread Together, will share the need they see in the community and pitch their stories, visions and solutions for creating a fairer future for those vulnerable to the rising cost of living across Geelong.
Introducing our three organisations
The Outpost
The Outpost will pitch their visions for a fairer community and share with you how for 32 years they have been feeding those in need in Geelong, 7 nights a week.
An astounding 30,992 hot meals were provided over the past year by this completely volunteer run organisation.
Amy Flint, Chair of The Outpost shares her thoughts on what this event means to her. “Being a part of Pitch Up gives The Outpost an opportunity to advocate on behalf of those in our community who we serve with food relief as a human connector, no questions asked. It wholeheartedly demonstrates to all community members that even as an organisation we recognise that we too don’t have to go it alone. Being part of Pitch Up means being part of the connected, kind and generous community that we call home.”
Feed Me
Feed Me – Bellarine, Geelong & Surf Coast will share with you how they provide many vulnerable families and communities with a regular supply of fresh nutritious food. Feed Me is a community space, run primarily by volunteers that can rescue, reuse and re-purpose food waste with respect and dignity for the product and for the people that will be consuming the product.
Lana Purcell, CEO and Co-Founder of Feed Me shares her thoughts on what being part of this event means to her.
“Joining forces with Pitch Up Geelong fills us with hope and gratitude. This partnership empowers Feed Me to reach and nourish thousands more in our community, providing them with the dignity and respect they deserve. Together, we can ensure that every person has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.”
Thread Together
Thread Together will share with you how they believe circumstances and disadvantage should not prevent people from accessing clothing to allow them to realise their full potential. One third of new clothing goes from factory to landfill, whilst one in eight adults and one in six children do not have adequate access to essential clothing. Thread Together addresses this by saving new clothing from going to landfill and providing these clothes to people in need. Anthony Chesler, CEO of Thread Together said, “Being part of Pitch Up Geelong provides us with an invaluable platform to amplify our mission of restoring dignity and hope to those facing hardship in Geelong. Through this opportunity, Thread Together can extend our reach, ensuring that more individuals in need receive essential clothing and support, while fostering a stronger, more compassionate community.”
