Fundraising for Feed Geelong: My Choice Group

Throughout the Feed Geelong Appeal, the Foundation received support from many organisations across the region.

One of the easiest ways to get involved was by registering for a Brown Paper Bag and encouraging your team to fundraise and help fight hunger in our community.

My Choice Group, a family-run business providing support service for people with a disability in Geelong registered for their Brown Paper Bag and raised over $500 to support the Foundation in making sure nobody in our community goes hungry.

Ross Trevean, Director of My Choice Group, said the cause is an important one.

“It’s a really good cause. There’s a desperate need in Geelong for people to have a feed. And it’s something that we can do easily, you know, people are spending $4 or $5 a day on coffee. We can easily donate some money to help provide some food for people,” said Ross.

To encourage his team to donate their lunch money, Ross hosted a lunch for all his employees and cooked up a feast to encourage donations.

“We’ve got a pretty caring and passionate team so they jumped on board pretty quickly.”

My Choice Group was one of 40 businesses across the region that got involved with Brown Paper Bag Day. They helped to raise over $32,000 for the Foundation thanks to the support of our Appeal Partners, VIVA Energy, The Gordon, and The Mulberry Group who matched all donations on the day up to $15,000.

In total, to help fight hunger in our community the Feed Geelong Appeal raised over $70,000!

With 53,000 families and individuals in the Geelong region in need of food support* for Ross the decision to get involved was a simple one.

“It’s a bit of a no-brainer really. When people see those statistics and see how many people are going hungry. It strikes a chord with most people,” said Ross.

Thank you to everyone who supported the 2022 Feed Geelong Appeal.
