Can you pitch in for Pitch Up?

Young people were among those most impacted by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this year’s Pitch Up live crowdfunding event, the Give Where You Live Foundation has invited Hope Bereavement Care, Little Dreamers Australia, and Wellways Australia to share their stories and vision to help young people overcome increasing inequality due to COVID-19.

Pitch Up Geelong is a little like Shark Tank, a little like a TEDx talk. Each organisation will have six minutes to share their stories and highlight the issues facing young people. You’ll also hear how they are working to address the challenges to support young people in our community.

Foundation CEO Bill Mithen will then take the floor and invite the donations to flow, inviting guests to be a part of real change.

Best of all every dollar donated on the night will have double the impact as they will be generously matched by Matched Funding Partners Anthony Costa Foundation, Gforce Employment Solutions, Give Where You Live Foundation, Hardwood Andrews and Kerr’s Hire.

More about the three Pitching Organisations:

Hope Bereavement Care

Hope Bereavement Care (Hope) is passionate about its vision that ‘no-one should be alone in grief.’ Hope offers free information, support and counselling when grieving the death of a child, the sudden and unexpected death of an adult and those experiencing loss after suicide. Hope also provides a specific Kids Grieve Too (KGT) program providing grief support to children and young experiencing the loss of a loved one, including bereavement by suicide, as well as supporting family and professionals in the wider community who are caring for them.

Hope is raising funds to extend the KGT program by focusing on the supports young people need after significant periods of isolations. KGT+ will build resilience and peer connections through meaningful activity-based interventions involving music, art, camps, and sports, based on shared interests.

Little Dreamers Australia

Little Dreamers is Australia’s leading Young Carer support organisation run by Young Carers for Young Carers.

Over the past two years Little Dreamers has experienced a +369% increase in requests for support, +500% in rural and regional communities. Alongside an increase in demand, there has been a high proportion of these families experiencing a range of complex challenges. These include disability, mental ill health, alcohol and drug addictions, family violence and significant financial disadvantage. Little Dreamers are raising funds to provide case management support for Young Carers within the Geelong region.

Wellways Australia

Wellways Australia is a leading not-for-profit mental health and disability support organisation with services in QLD, NSW, the ACT, Vic and Tasmania. Our services span mental health, disability and community care, and reach thousands of people each year.

Wellways Australia are raising funds to continue to create successful programs and deliver much needed community connection throughout Geelong and its surrounding LGBTIQ+ communities. These programs aim to increase the mental health and wellbeing of all LGBTIQ+ identifying people and those affected by the participation of others.
