Dal café Surviving and Thriving

Dal café Surviving & Thriving

Thanks to a $25,000 Survive and Thrive Grant from Give Where You Live dal are operating in a brand new space.

Dal describe this past year as one of challenge, change and chance. However in true dal style, thanks to their highly committed and talented team they have emerged with a new and exciting vision for their future direction.

Their biggest challenge was at the beginning of 2013 after a review of the Pakington Street Lease resulted in an unrealistic 400% increase.  Their next challenge was to find suitable premises to accommodate their café and catering team and equipment. By chance No. 8 little Ryrie Street was available for lease and the perfect size.

In mid 2013 dal were invited to form a partnership with Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College to develop a café culture for senior students.  So popular and successful is “dal on Flinders Café” that dal were approached by Geelong High School to open “dal on Geelong High” in February 2014. These partnerships are of course great business opportunities and importantly showcase the ability and talent of people with special needs in the Community.

As a Community Partner of Give Where You Live, Dal would like to thank Give Where You Live and extend their Congratulations on the 60th Anniversary of supporting the Geelong Community.
