Well done to the Loaned Executives (LEXs) who successfully completed the 2011 LEX program: your commitment to improving your local community through Give Where You Live has been invaluable. This year we had 36 Geelong workers from 31 Geelong workplaces go through Give Where You Live Loaned Executive (LEX) program. These community-minded leaders saw first hand the pressing needs within the Geelong community, as well as Give Where You Live's vital support in tackling this disadvantage.

On the evening of Thursday June 16, an Awards Function was held to acknowledge the efforts of the 2011 Loaned Executives.  We congratulate all the LEXs who were involved in the program and would particularly like to acknowledge the 2011 joint winners of the Gordon Murray award which recognises exemplary commitment to the role: Cassandra Bird and Claire Hassett from GMHBA, as well as Monique Corban and Matt Hudson from Shell Refinery. Click here to read more about the 2011 LEXs and the recent Loaned Executive Awards night or see photos from the evening.

What is a Loaned Executive?

A Loaned Executive (LEX) is any employee from any Geelong business who is 'loaned' by his/her employer to Give Where You Live for a three month campaign. Following an initial three days of training, it is expected that the time commitment of these LEXs will be approximately 3-4 hours per week for 13 weeks.

The nominated employee can be from any department and from any level within the company. Previous LEXs have been mechanics, accountants, lawyers, production workers, knifehands, company directors - you name it.

LEXs are allocated a small number of companies, including their own. Their role is to work with these companies to develop strategies which will enhance Give Where You Live's profile within the workplace. This may include presentations to employee groups, updating posters/newsletters, etc. and thanking current contributors. These presentations provide an opportunity for others to participated in Workplace Giving.

Loaned Executives support Give Where You Live's campaign between March and June each year, with applications opening the previous year in December.
